In 2016, Justin Bond began CigarBond–a photography company specializing in bourbon and tobacco. Having done work for several high-profile companies (Bulleit, Four Roses, Rabbit Hole, Buffalo Trace, Drew Estate, Room 101, and Dapper Cigars), CigarBond has created a solid reputation as well as a decent-sized fanbase. Towards the end of 2020, Justin decided he wanted to expand the company to create lifestyle products for fellow industry consumers. In order take the brand into this new direction, Justin sought an identity design that better aligned with his new vision.
CigarBond’s original identity was a solid mark, but it did not appropriately represent the aesthetic that Justin had in mind and it did not allow for responsiveness based on it’s application.
The solution
A minimal, monogram mark that incorporates boldness and a refined look reminiscent of visuals found in the cigar and spirits industries. Alongside the main monogram, a badge lock-up and a CigarBond word-mark were provided.
“I gave Joe a task that was not easy. My industry is very traditional, but I wanted to spice things up a little and bring a modern and simplistic feel to my branding. After just a single conversation, Joe worked his magic and produced some of the best branding I could have ever imagined for CigarBond. It hit me in a special way and now I am confident to rep my brand proudly.”
